I love practicing law because of the people I meet. Our clients are creative, passionate, savvy and fun. Each day presents new challenges and adventures. I enjoy working with clients to find innovative ways to protect their business and help them succeed. Beyond legal counsel, I have helped many clients find new opportunities, as well as make beneficial connections.
I have a passion for getting things across the finish line. I enjoy working with clients to find creative ways to get transactions completed. I know that deadlines are important and made for a reason, and I always do my best to meet them.
I believe to be an effective attorney one must have empathy. I greatly enjoy people and invest in my client’s cases as if they were my own. I strive to accomplish, at a minimum, two successes with each case 1) achieving client goals and 2) maintaining a thriving relationship with the people I interact with during my work. Helping people is the reason I attended law school and the reason I practice today.
I was born and raised in Tennessee, where I grew up in close-knit community. Although I didn’t know from the start that I wanted to practice law, I knew that I had a passion for helping others. Learning about people – their unique cultures, business situations and how I can help them attain their goals – intrigues me. I have gained a conviction for assisting others through complex situations that life may bring.
My favorite part about practicing law is using my creativity to help people solve problems and achieve their goals. A self-proclaimed neat freak, it’s especially rewarding for me to organize complex transactions. I enjoy the process of researching the issues, digging into the details, piecing together what’s important, and then dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. As a former journalist, I have a deep appreciation for clear and timely communication.
Our firm began in the dining room of a small home in west Charlotte. It was the fall of 2012, and my wife, Anna and I had just adopted our second daughter. YooRan was getting used to her new family and her new country, having been born in South Korea. Her older sister, NiuNiu, had come home from China only two years earlier. My beautiful and brave daughters are my inspiration and heroes. So I honored them in McMillan PLLC’s logo.
