National Adoption Month

On November 1st, 1995, President Bill Clinton proclaimed the month of November as National Adoption Month. President Clinton himself had been adopted – only the second U.S. president to have been adopted. President Gerald Ford was the other.

National Adoption Month seeks to bring awareness to the approximately 110,000 children in foster care within the United States who waiting for a permanent, loving family. Of course the need goes beyond our borders; UNICEF estimates that there are over 140 million orphans worldwide.

During November, I hope you will take a moment to encourage anyone you know who is going through the adoption process or even considering adoption. My wife and I adopted our two wonderful daughters and we are in the process of adopting two more children. Words are inadequate to convey the love and joy we have experienced together, so I hope you will enjoy the pictures below.
